History

The Department of Earthquake Engineering (DEE) is successor of the former Central Laboratory of Seismic Mechanics and Earthquake Engineering (CLSMEE), founded in 1982, to carry out fundamental and applied research in the field of seismic mechanics and earthquake engineering with the main objective – seismic risk reduction, targeting minimum loss of socio-economic resources as a key element for sustainable development at national and regional level. We provide the continuous monitoring of Strong Ground Motions for Bulgaria since the early 1980-ies through the National Strong Ground Motion Network, renovated in 2004 with new digital stations.
